How Clampd works
No batteries, no Bluetooth pairing, nothing to charge. Clampd chips are powered entirely by your phone's NFC reader, and a built-in magnet lets you stick one anywhere metal — the fridge, the microwave, a filing cabinet.

Do I need a subscription to use Clampd?+
No, and there's no account either. A genuine Clampd tag is what unlocks the app — scan it once and you have unlimited access on that phone for life. No login, no monthly fee, ever.
Is the Clampd app available on iOS and Android?+
Clampd is coming soon to both the App Store and Google Play. Your chip works with either platform the moment it launches.
Does the chip need a battery or charging?+
No. Clampd chips are passive NFC tags, powered by your phone for the split second it takes to tap in — nothing to charge or replace.
How do I mount the chip?+
Clampd has a built-in magnet, so it sticks straight to any metal surface — the fridge, the microwave, a filing cabinet, a car door. No adhesive, no drilling, no stand needed.
Will any NFC tag work, or does it have to be a real Clampd chip?+
It has to be genuine. Every Clampd chip is cryptographically provisioned at the factory, and the app verifies that signature before it unlocks — a blank NFC sticker or a knockoff won't work.
Can I run more than one focus profile at once?+
One profile shields at a time by design, so you always know exactly what's blocked. Tap out of your current profile, then tap into the next one whenever you want to switch.
Can I customize the colors?+
Yes. The 1-pack and 2-pack ship in three ready-made colorways: black body/blue logo, black body/orange logo, or blue body/orange logo. Want something else? Use the Customize option to pick any body color and any logo color for $44.99, made to order.
What if I lose my chip?+
If it was your only one, you'll lose access to Clampd's core features — starting a focus session and dismissing a chip-gated alarm both require a physical tap, so neither works without a genuine tag in hand. Order a replacement from the Shop to get back up and running. Since Clampd doesn't use accounts, any genuine Clampd chip works — if you'd locked a specific profile or alarm to the old one, just re-pair it to the new chip in the app. Deleting the Clampd app itself is different and more permanent: since everything lives on your phone with no account or cloud backup, uninstalling erases all your alarms and focus profiles for good, not just your access to them.
Can more than one person use the same chip?+
Clampd runs entirely on your phone with no shared account, so a chip isn't tied to one person by the app itself — but each phone needs its own tap to unlock, so in practice a chip works best for one primary user. Grab the 2-pack if you want a tag at your desk and another by your bed.
